The region around Bad Ragaz is also perfect for exploring by bike. Whether by e-bike or by mountain bike – from pleasure routes to challenging uphill and downhill stretches, you can do it all.
The “Wine and e-bike” culinary tour
Take an e-bike tour and pedal your way comfortably through the Buendner Herrschaft past beautiful vineyards. At a stop at a vineyard, you will learn more about the centuries-old winemaking culture and have a chance to rate the winemaker’s abilities at a tasting.
Sarganserland pleasure route
This leisurely bike tour starts in Bad Ragaz and takes you to Sargans, via the villages of Vilters, Wangs, Mels, Plons and Heiligkreuz. Sargans Castle towers majestically above the historic town of Sargans. From the town centre, you can walk up a flight of stairs to the castle, where you can take in the magnificent panoramic view. You will then head upstream on the Rhine embankment back to Bad Ragaz.
E-bike tour to the Walser village of St. Martin
You tackle the first ascent of the ambitious tour up into Tamina Valley on the car-free Valenserstrasse. Once at the top, you will have a great view of the impressive Tamina Bridge. The road meanders up and down from Valens to the Mapragg reservoir, which you then follow along its western shore. You will reach Vättis on a varied single trail. This is where the ascent to the Gigerwald reservoir and to St. Martin starts.
